Compared with gray iron castings, there is a significant difference in shock absorption capabilities between steel plate welded bases and aluminum alloy bases. Gray cast iron has its own flake graphite structure, which can absorb and digest processing vibrations and avoid tool chatter and knife marks on the processing surface.
The production of qualified machine tool castings has a rigorous process: resin sand molding → alloy molten iron pouring → natural cooling → sand shakeout cleaning → high temperature aging to eliminate internal stress → grinding treatment → rail surface finishing → finished product quality inspection.
Castings that have not undergone aging treatment retain huge internal stress. After the equipment is put into use, the stress is slowly released, the bed is slightly twisted and deformed, the parallelism of the guide rails is damaged, and the machining accuracy of the entire machine declines.
